organs

there is no inherent difference between a laptop, a prosthetic and a finger. no hard boundary can be drawn. they extend your reach, fuse into how you see, feel, punch, caress anything in the world.

it hurts when devices fail or are taken away. you may feel less yourself if that happens. i certainly do.

your computer is a part of your body. perhaps more expendable than an eye, but not an inch less important for it. it is a proxy for senses, it is a lever for action, it is an amplifier of expression. you adapt to each other. you grow as one.

then, if your computer is an organ, you must treat it like one. maintain its hygiene. feed it well. soothe it when it hurts. keep the important tissues safe, and have a plan on how to cauterize the rest.

it isn’t a question of ideals or technical prowess. it’s a question of self-care. you are a living thing, so be good to yourself in flesh, in spirit and in silicon.
